on the SPB March Ballot
District 2 Commissioner is up for election Tuesday, March 11th
District 2
District 2 Residents will have an opportunity to vote for either Commissioner Lisa Robinson or Grant Izzi. We are proud to endorse Commissioner Lisa Robinson.
Please read the recent letter published by Commissioner Robinson's Campaign, beginning below -- click the image to read the full letter:
For the first time in over two decades, St. Pete Beach has a slim 3-2 majority of grassroots, Residents First commissioners. Just over one month after Lisa Robinson defeated appointed commissioner Nick Filtz to create this new majority, we were struck by two historic storms, and this Residents First commission was put to the test.
Since the storms, Lisa Robinson has delivered for residents. Thanks to her leadership:
- Permit fees for storm repair were eliminated
- The five-year lookback passed in 2021 under Mayor Al Johson's administration was eliminated
- The city's planning department has streamlined its process to approve some building permits presumptively, before a Substantial Damage determination is made
- The city is now auditing Substantial Damage determinations prior to mailing letters
- Cloth wiring replacement can be included in Minimal Repair Permits
- We are getting to the bottom of utility mismanagement under prior administrations
Furthermore, Commissioner Robinson has been volunteering in the building department and at the library to help residents navigate the permitting process. We have talked to numerous residents whom Lisa has personally helped with the process of restoring their homes, while still working a full-time job and being displaced from her home due to hurricane damage.
Lisa is, and has been, working for residents.
Contrast Commissioner Robinson with her opponent who has shown up to unseat her after less than five months in office. What would possess a person to run against Commissioner Robinson under these circumstances?
Mr. Izzi has zero experience in our municipal government. He sent out a mailer claiming service on a Parks and Recreation committee -- to which he was briefly appointed by appointed commissioner Nick Filtz, and only attended one meeting.
Prior to the hurricane, Mr. Izzi never attended commission meetings. Since declaring, he has skipped approximately half of the commission meetings, including important meetings on the zero lookback period, waiving permit fees for residents, and infrastructure planning.
In terms of basic competence and honesty, Mr. Izzi filed an inaccurate candidate registration. He claimed to live in SPB for at least one year as required by our City Charter, yet he used a home address that was under renovation and unoccupied prior to August 2024 — just one month before the hurricanes.
Comparing these facts with Commissioner Robinson's decades of residence and service to St. Pete Beach and the choice could not be more clear. Residents see the difference between a resident servant-leader who is helping her constituents, versus a politician looking to get elected.
Local leaders agree, as seen by the following endorsements:
State Representative Linda Chaney:
I am voting to re-elect Lisa Robinson to be my city commissioner because of her exceptional leadership helping us recover after these historic storms, and getting to the bottom of our infrastructure issues. Lisa has supported residents by eliminating the 5-year lookback period and permit fees for storm repair. She has called for the city to do better in serving residents and I know she will continue to do so. Her commitment to transparency and decades of experience will continue to benefit all of us as we rebuild.
County Commissioner Vince Nowicki:
I support Lisa Robinson for St. Pete Beach District 2 Commissioner because of her honesty and commitment to serving her constituents and all residents of St. Pete Beach. Lisa has demonstrated that her decades of participation and living in St Pete Beach brings in-depth knowledge of city ordinances, the city Comprehensive Plan and the land use codes. For too long, our municipal and county governments have been controlled by special interests that work against residents and taxpayers. Lisa is a new generation of leadership who puts Residents First, and insists on good government that serves the people who pay the bills.
Mayor Adrian Petrila:
I am proud to endorse Lisa Robinson for District 2 Commissioner. Since taking office, Lisa has stood firmly to her principles of putting our residents first. For over 30 years Lisa has been a tireless advocate for our residents, a defender of our quality of life, and an outspoken champion of our city’s character. I urge you to send in your absentee ballots or join me at the ballot box on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, to cast your vote to reelect Lisa Robinson. Lisa Robinson has my full endorsement and support of her candidacy for St Pete Beach District 2 Commissioner.
Former Mayor Deborah Schechner:
I have known Lisa Robinson for 25 years, and during that time she has been a staunch supporter of our residents. Lisa regularly attends commission meetings and participates in city workshops to keep informed and is knowledgeable about our city. She understands the Commission meeting process and is ready to step up for us! SPB needs someone that shows up to make things happen, is an advocate for residents and for our beautiful beach community. Lisa is that candidate.
Please, forward this information to your friends and neighbors in District 2. It is crucial that Commissioner Robinson is re-elected to send a strong message that St. Pete Beach is, and will remain, Residents First.
District 4
We are pleased to say that District 4 commission seat will be filled by Commissioner Joe Moholland. Mr. Moholland is running unopposed.
